Meet the Owner…

Hi everyone! My name is Maggie and I founded Dak Dogs because of my love for dogs and desire to provide the best possible care for them. I have extensive experience working with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments. I pride myself on creating a home away from home for your furry friends. Whether they need a place to stay while you're at work or just a little extra playtime during the day, I am here to help!

II started my journey with dogs at the age of 10 with my first dog Jack. He was a rescue from the local SPCA and has by far been one of the most challenging dogs I have ever worked with. Jack taught me from an early age the importance of patience, good communication, and a solid work ethic.
After a few years of working with terriers, I branched into Shetland Sheepdogs. My first Sheltie, Mario, is who exposed me to the world of professional dog showing and grooming. We started out competing in 4-H and placed 1st in NYS in 2015 and Reserve in 2014 and 2016!

After many years of competing in 4-H, Mario and I started competing in American Kennel Club and Canadian Kennel Club dog shows. We competed at many shows in Northeastern USA and Southeastern Canada winning Best Junior Handler at almost every show against the top junior handlers in the county! In addition to showing Shetland Sheepdogs, I also had the opportunity to professionally handle Barbets and Smooth Collies.

After almost 9 years of working with all different types of dogs, I finally felt I was ready to give myself a challenge and expand into the line of working breeds and bite sports. My first working dog was Ragnar, a Belgian Malinois. Ragnar was definitely a challenge for me but I learned so much and am a much better handler after having the opportunity to work with him for such a short couple years.
Ragnar was my ride or die dog. Not only was he my training buddy, but he and I also loved to adventure together. We were working on completing the 46 Adirondack High Peaks and preparing for IGP dog sports together. Although he passed before we could accomplish both of these goals, it is my mission to achieve these goals with my next Malinois.
Ragnar struggled with fear based reactivity which greatly limited us. But with that being said, he has not only inspired me to keep expanding my knowledge in the field of dog training but he also was my inspiration behind Dak Dogs!
I hope to spread my love for dogs and help as many people as possible in his memory.
